Assignment 0

I have been around technology since I was about 4 years old when my uncle gave my brother and I his Nintendo Entertainment System and we played Super Mario for hours on end. We didn't have a PC in the house until I was about 8 years old when we had a brand new Compaq with Windows 95. Since then, I am pretty comfortable with Windows and using the programs in Microsoft Office. I have used Word to write papers for the last 6 years and took a technology class in high school where I learned Power Point and Excel. I also took CGS 2002.

I hope to get more time with Power Point and Excel. As a teacher I will be using Power Point for lecture slides. The more I know about Power Point, the more I can use it to its fullest potential in making class more interesting and stimulating for my students. With more experience in Excel, I will be able to keep track of grades and assignents with ease. As I spend time using the program in this class, I will get more experience and be more familiar with the different tools that Excel offers.

According to the Learning Styles Test, I am pretty balanced between an active and reflective learner, scoring 3 on the active side. I am far more of an intuitive person. I scored 11 in that category. Memorization is not the way to go for me. At all. I scored 7 on the visual side. I am much better at seeing and processing than I am at hearing and processing. I scored a 5 on the global side. I can understand the big picture first, before all the details. Once I see the big picture of something, I can see how all the details relate and make up the big picture.
